Independent Forgings and Alloys, one of Europe's leading precision forging companies, is looking to recruit a Contract Quality Engineer to support its Sheffield-based Quality team through a busy period of AS9100 internal and external audits. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Aerospace quality professional to join a highly respected manufacturing business and make an immediate impact by ensuring the business remains fully compliant and audit ready.
As the Contract Quality Engineer, you will be based at the Sheffield manufacturing site, working closely with the Quality and Production teams to ensure the business is fully prepared for upcoming AS9100 internal and external audits. This is a hands-on role requiring an experienced Quality Engineer who can quickly integrate into the business, review and strengthen the Quality Management System, support audit activities, close out non-conformances, and drive corrective actions. You will provide practical support across the manufacturing operation to ensure continued compliance with AS9100 standards and customer requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the business with AS9100 internal and external audit preparation and delivery.
- Conduct internal process and system audits in line with AS9100 requirements.
- Support customer, third-party and certification audits.
- Review and improve Quality Management System documentation and procedures.
- Manage audit findings and non-conformances, ensuring timely corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
- Lead root cause investigations using recognised quality tools including 8D, 5 Whys and Fishbone Analysis.
- Work closely with Production and Engineering teams to improve process compliance and product quality.
- Review customer quality requirements and ensure they are incorporated into business processes.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives across manufacturing operations.
- Promote best practice and maintain a strong quality culture throughout the business.
Qualifications and Experience
- Proven experience as a Quality Engineer within an aerospace manufacturing environment.
- Strong working knowledge of AS9100 Rev D and Quality Management Systems.
- Previous experience supporting successful AS9100 internal and external audits.
- Internal Auditor qualification or demonstrable auditing experience.
- Experience managing non-conformances, CAPA and root cause investigations.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to work effectively across all levels of the business.
- Able to work independently and make an immediate contribution within a manufacturing environment.
