We are partnering with a leading industrial manufacturing organisation to appoint a strategic and commercially driven Global Commodity Director to lead international sourcing activities across castings, forgings, foundries, and heavy metal components. This is a high-impact global role focused on developing a resilient international supply network, with particular emphasis on foundry capability across South America, Asia and other developing manufacturing regions. The successful candidate will play a key role in identifying, developing, and managing strategic foundry partnerships, including evaluating opportunities for joint ventures, supplier investment, acquisitions, and long-term manufacturing alliances. This position can be fully remote, with international travel as required.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and execute the global sourcing strategy for castings, forgings, and heavy industrial components.
- Drive cost optimisation, supply chain resilience, quality improvement, and continuity of supply.
- Provide strategic market intelligence across global foundry and metals markets, particularly within emerging economies.
- Support long-term manufacturing and regional growth strategies.
- Identify and develop foundry partners across South America and other developing manufacturing regions.
- Evaluate opportunities for joint ventures, supplier investment and development, strategic manufacturing partnerships, and potential M&A activity.
- Build strong relationships with international suppliers and manufacturing partners.
- Lead supplier capability improvement initiatives across quality, technical performance, and production capacity.
- Lead complex negotiations, commercial agreements, and cost analysis activities.
- Partner with engineering and operations teams to drive design-for-manufacture, material optimisation, process improvement, and value engineering.
- Monitor geopolitical, commodity, and market risks impacting global supply chains.
- Ensure suppliers meet quality, sustainability, and compliance standards.
- Act as a senior stakeholder across global procurement, operations, and executive leadership teams.
About You
- You will bring strong international sourcing and commodity leadership experience within heavy industrial or manufacturing environments.
- Key experience includes expertise in castings, forgings, foundries, and heavy metal manufacturing.
- Proven experience working with foundries in South America, Asia and other emerging markets.
- Experience developing strategic supplier partnerships, joint ventures, or manufacturing alliances.
- M&A exposure or experience supporting acquisition and investment activities would be highly beneficial.
- Strong commercial negotiation and stakeholder management capability.
- Strategic mindset with excellent market awareness and analytical skills.
