W Talent are now exclusively supporting a large engineering and manufacturing business located in Rotherham, South Yorkshire who are looking to recruit a Design Engineer to join their growing technical team. This is an excellent opportunity for a Design Engineer with strong CAD experience to work on technically challenging projects within a collaborative and fast-paced engineering environment.

The new Design Engineer will work closely with clients and internal stakeholders to deliver accurate, project-specific designs and achieve technical approvals throughout the project lifecycle. The role will be based in Rotherham and will involve creating detailed engineering drawings, supporting manufacturing and installation teams, and attending design review meetings where required. You will play a key role in ensuring designs are delivered accurately, efficiently, and in line with industry standards and customer expectations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Produce accurate 2D and 3D technical drawings using AutoCAD and Autodesk Inventor
  • Create detailed general arrangement drawings, fabrication drawings, CNC drawings, steelwork and structural layouts
  • Maintain and manage project drawings through Vault
  • Support manufacturing and construction feasibility reviews
  • Produce manufacturing lists and technical documentation
  • Liaise with Sales, Contracts, Manufacturing and Installation teams regarding technical requirements
  • Support site teams with installation and construction technical queries
  • Ensure all work complies with engineering, quality and health & safety standards
  • Modify and update existing drawings where required
  • Attend internal and customer design review meetings

Key Requirements

  • Degree qualified in Engineering, Design or a related discipline
  • Experience using Autodesk Inventor or Vault Pro
  • Strong CAD experience within an engineering or manufacturing environment
  • Previous experience working within a design engineering team
  • Ability to produce detailed technical drawings to a high standard
  • Experience working to tight deadlines across multiple projects
  • Strong attention to detail and organisational skills
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
  • Commercial awareness and problem-solving ability
  • Confident using Microsoft Office packages including Excel and Word

The Design Engineer will be based in Rotherham with a starting salary of £35,000 to £40,000. There will be occasional travel to UK and overseas customer sites.
