An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Buyer to join a growing automotive manufacturing business supplying a diverse and well-established customer base.
As Buyer, you will play a key role within the procurement and supply chain function, responsible for sourcing and purchasing automotive components, materials, and services to support customer programmes and day-to-day manufacturing operations.
Working closely with engineering, production, planning, quality, and supply chain , you will ensure the right parts and materials are available at the right time, while maintaining competitive costs, quality standards, and supplier performance.
This is an excellent opportunity for a commercially minded Buyer with experience in automotive or manufacturing procurement to join a forward-thinking business and develop their career within a highly experienced procurement team.
Key Responsibilities

Source and procure automotive components, materials, and services in line with production and customer requirements.

Manage day-to-day supplier relationships, including cost, quality, delivery, and performance .

Work closely with Production, Engineering, Planning, and Quality teams to ensure continuity of supply.

Negotiate pricing, lead times, payment terms, and other commercial agreements with suppliers.

Monitor supplier performance and proactively address delivery, quality, and supply issues.

Support cost reduction, value engineering, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Monitor demand, inventory levels, and material availability to maintain optimum stock levels.

Identify and manage potential supply chain risks, implementing corrective actions where required.

Support the introduction of new automotive programmes, components, and suppliers .

Maintain accurate purchasing and supplier records and ensure procurement activity is aligned with business requirements.
About You
We are looking for a proactive and commercially focused Buyer who understands the demands of a fast-paced automotive manufacturing environment.
You will ideally have:

Previous experience as a Buyer, Procurement Specialist, or Purchasing professional within automotive or manufacturing.

Strong experience of operational procurement and supplier management .

Knowledge of automotive components, manufacturing processes, or engineering supply chains.

Strong commercial and negotiation skills, with the ability to achieve cost and performance improvements.

Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.

The ability to build strong, professional relationships with suppliers and internal teams.

A proactive approach to resolving supply chain challenges and managing risk.

Good analytical and organisational skills, with strong attention to detail.

A genuine interest in developing a long-term career within automotive procurement and supply chain .
