W Talent are exclusively representing a leading manufacturing business to recruit a Shift Leader on a permanent basis. This is an excellent opportunity to join a well-established manufacturer where you'll play a key role in leading production operations, driving continuous improvement and developing a high-performing team within a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

The successful Shift Leader will be responsible for leading a production team to achieve safety, quality, delivery and productivity targets. This is a hands-on leadership role where you'll coordinate shift activities, support continuous improvement initiatives and ensure production objectives are met while maintaining the highest standards of health, safety and quality.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and coordinate all production activities during your shift to achieve operational targets.
  • Promote a strong health and safety culture, ensuring safe working practices are followed at all times.
  • Lead, motivate and develop the production team, providing coaching and mentoring where required.
  • Prepare and manage daily shift plans, prioritising workloads based on customer demand and operational requirements.
  • Attend production and shift handover meetings, communicating key performance information and outstanding actions.
  • Ensure production teams remain fully engaged in meeting productivity, quality and delivery objectives.
  • Drive continuous improvement activities to maximise production efficiency and minimise downtime.
  • Identify opportunities to reduce scrap, waste and machine stoppages through improved working practices.
  • Lead improvement projects and provide clear documentation of outcomes and results.
  • Ensure compliance with company quality standards, reducing customer complaints and improving performance.
  • Monitor housekeeping standards across the production area, ensuring audit readiness at all times.
  • Train and develop employees against Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Work collaboratively with engineering, quality and other support functions to resolve production issues quickly.
  • Escalate operational issues where appropriate to minimise disruption to production.
Requirements
  • Experience within a manufacturing or production environment in a leadership or supervisory position.
  • Proven experience leading and motivating production teams.
  • Strong understanding of production processes and continuous improvement principles.
  • Excellent organisational skills with the ability to prioritise workloads effectively.
  • Strong communication and people management skills.
  • Analytical approach with excellent problem-solving abilities.
  • Flexible approach and ability to perform in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Good level of numeracy and general education.
  • Basic IT skills including Microsoft Word and Excel.
Advantageous
  • Leadership or management qualification.
  • Experience using SAP, Barco or similar manufacturing systems.
  • Knowledge of lean manufacturing and continuous improvement methodologies.
