W Talent is delighted to be partnering with a rapidly growing organisation within the renewable energy sector to recruit a Day Shift Team Leader for a high-performing Energy Recovery Facility (ERF).

This is an exciting opportunity to join a forward-thinking organisation where you will play a key role in ensuring the safe, efficient, and compliant operation of a critical energy facility.

This role would suit an experienced professional from the power generation, energy, process manufacturing, waste management, utilities, or heavy industrial sectors who is looking to take ownership of site operations, lead a dedicated team, and contribute to a business focused on sustainability, innovation, and operational excellence.

The Role

As the Day Shift Team Leader, you will be responsible for the safe and efficient operation of the facility, ensuring the highest standards of health, safety, environmental compliance, operational performance, and service delivery.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and promote a strong health, safety, and environmental culture across site.
  • Act as the site’s Senior Authorised Person (SAP) and manage the Safe System of Work.
  • Oversee permit-to-work systems and ensure compliance with site safety procedures.
  • Supervise day shift operations, including operational staff, contractors, and support teams.
  • Coordinate planned maintenance and engineering activities alongside the maintenance team.
  • Lead operational improvement initiatives to maximise plant efficiency and availability.
  • Manage daily staffing levels and organise shift cover where required.
  • Conduct return-to-work meetings, performance reviews, and support employee development.
  • Coordinate process consumables and by-product logistics.
  • Ensure the facility operates within all environmental permit requirements.
  • Lead incident investigations, risk assessments, and emergency response activities.
  • Maintain excellent housekeeping, quality, and operational standards across site.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives and operational best practice.

About You

We’re looking for a proactive and safety-focused leader who enjoys taking responsibility and thrives in a fast-paced operational environment.

Essential Experience:

  • Experience within a power generation, process plant, utilities, waste management, or heavy industrial environment.
  • Experience managing safe systems of work and issuing Permits to Work.
  • Strong understanding of Health, Safety, and Environmental legislation.
  • Previous experience leading operational teams.
  • Excellent communication, organisation, and problem-solving skills.
  • Computer literate.

Qualifications

Essential:

  • Engineering qualification (ONC, HNC, or equivalent).
  • IOSH, NEBOSH, or equivalent Health & Safety qualification.

Desirable:

  • Senior Authorised Person (SAP) accreditation.
  • Mechanical and/or HV/LV electrical safety authorisation.
  • Experience using Computerised Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS).
