Commodity Buyer – Manufacturing

Location: Greater Derby Area

Salary: £30,000 – £35,000

Working Hours: 37 hours per week | Hybrid working available | Early finish on Friday

We're looking for a dynamic, data-driven Commodity Buyer to join a leading global manufacturing client of ours who are located in a beautiful area of Derbyshire. You will play a vital role in managing supplier relationships and streamlining purchasing operations within an engineering environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers to meet performance and quality standards
  • Negotiate pricing, resolve supplier issues related to OTIF performance, and assist with invoice and pricing variance queries
  • Oversee and update purchasing data, including pricing, purchase orders, schedule agreements, and master data
  • Collaborate with Planning and Buying teams to process engineering changes, manage new product introductions, and maintain accurate purchasing data

The Ideal Candidate:

  • Experience: Proven background in purchasing and working with suppliers within a manufacturing setting – Manufacturing experience is essential
  • Skills: Negotiation and strong communication skills, with the ability to collaborate with, and influence, internal and external stakeholders
  • Systems: Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, with an interest in data analysis. SAP experience is beneficial but not essential
