W Talent are exclusively representing a well-established manufacturing company who are looking to recruit a permanent Maintenance Engineer. This is an excellent opportunity to join a fast-paced manufacturing environment, supporting production through proactive maintenance and rapid response to equipment breakdowns, whilst ensuring high engineering and safety standards are maintained at all times.

The successful Maintenance Engineer will be responsible for both reactive and preventative maintenance across a busy manufacturing facility. The role will involve responding to machinery breakdowns, completing planned maintenance activities and ensuring all engineering work is accurately recorded and communicated to the wider engineering and production teams.

You will play an important role in maintaining equipment reliability, minimising downtime and ensuring all maintenance activities are completed safely and effectively in line with company procedures.

Key Responsibilities

  • Respond promptly to machinery breakdowns, diagnose faults and complete repairs to minimise production downtime.
  • Carry out planned preventative maintenance activities across production machinery and equipment.
  • Work in accordance with all health and safety procedures, including LOTO and Dynamic Risk Assessments.
  • Prioritise and action Engineering Reports generated following machinery breakdowns.
  • Accurately record completed engineering work, faults identified and any further actions required.
  • Provide detailed shift reports outlining engineering activities completed and any outstanding issues.
  • Communicate effectively with the Engineering Supervisor and Engineering Manager regarding breakdowns, machine status and repair progress.
  • Liaise with Planning Teams and Shift Managers where machinery needs to be stopped to carry out maintenance or repairs.
  • Contact machine manufacturers' technical departments when additional technical support is required and accurately document advice and fault diagnosis.
  • Ensure daily, weekly and monthly preventative maintenance checks are completed within the required timeframes.
  • Complete daily machinery checks, including checking oil levels and lubrication requirements.
  • Maintain high standards of housekeeping within the maintenance workshop, engineering stores and machine manual areas.
  • Accurately record spare parts used and ensure replacement parts are requested when required.
  • Ensure outstanding maintenance requirements are clearly communicated to the wider engineering team.
  • Support ongoing improvements to machine reliability, availability and overall production efficiency.

Key Requirements

  • Engineering qualification or relevant engineering experience.
  • Previous experience working within a manufacturing or industrial environment.
  • Experience carrying out reactive and preventative maintenance.
  • Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills.
  • Good understanding of planned preventative maintenance systems and processes.
  • Understanding of health and safety requirements within a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience working to procedures such as LOTO and Dynamic Risk Assessments.
  • Strong communication and organisational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and effectively as part of an engineering team.
  • Good attention to detail when completing engineering reports and maintenance records.

Advantageous Requirements

  • Previous experience within FMCG or high-volume manufacturing.
  • Experience using CMMS or engineering reporting systems.
  • Electrical and mechanical fault-finding experience.
  • Experience with pneumatics and hydraulics.
  • PLC fault-finding experience.
  • Experience working with machinery manufacturers' technical support teams.
