We are seeking a proactive Automotive Parts Buyer to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for sourcing, negotiating, and purchasing goods and services essential to our operations. This role requires a strong understanding of supply chain processes and logistics to ensure the timely and cost-effective acquisition of materials. They should also be able to check vehicles in and out at hire commencement/cessation and order necessary parts to get the vehicle back through our workshop for rehire.
Responsibilities
- Manage the end-to-end procurement process, including sourcing, negotiation, and purchasing of goods and services.
- Track purchase orders, monitor inventory levels, and manage supplier data.
- Develop and maintain relationships with suppliers to secure favourable terms and ensure quality standards are met.
- Coordinate with logistics teams to ensure timely delivery of materials, optimising supply chain efficiency.
- Analyse market trends and supplier performance to identify opportunities for cost savings and process improvements.
- Maintain accurate records of transactions for audit purposes.
- Raising of purchase orders through our in-house system.
- Collaborate with internal departments to understand their procurement needs and provide effective solutions.
- Ensure compliance with organisational policies and relevant regulations throughout the purchasing process.
- Capable to sign vehicles in and out of our yard at hire commencement.
Experience
- Proven experience in procurement or purchasing roles within an automotive environment.
- Demonstrable negotiation skills with a track record of securing favourable terms with suppliers.
- Knowledge of supply chain management, logistics, and inventory control practices.
- Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities efficiently.
- Effective communication skills, capable of building strong relationships with internal teams and external suppliers.
- Previous motor trade experience working within a structured procurement framework is highly desirable.
