About the Role
The Accounting Specialist will be responsible for supporting the day-to-day accounting operations of the business, ensuring accurate financial records, timely reporting, and compliance with company policies and UK accounting requirements.
This role requires regular collaboration with Mandarin-speaking colleagues and stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
- Process and record financial transactions accurately and in a timely manner.
- Manage Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR) activities, including invoice processing, payment tracking, and customer collections.
- Perform bank, supplier, customer, and general ledger reconciliations.
- Prepare and post journal entries, accruals, prepayments, and other month-end adjustments.
- Support month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing activities.
- Assist in the preparation of management accounts and financial reports.
- Review and process employee expense claims in accordance with company policies.
- Support cash flow monitoring and treasury-related activities.
- Assist with VAT returns and statutory reporting requirements.
- Liaise with external accountants, auditors, banks, and regulatory bodies when required.
- Maintain accurate and organised accounting records and supporting documentation.
- Support budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis activities.
- Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, controls, and reporting efficiency.
- Provide ad hoc financial and administrative support as required.
Qualifications & Experience Essential
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Business, or a related discipline.
- Minimum 1 years of experience in accounting, finance.
- Strong understanding of accounting principles and double-entry bookkeeping.
- Experience using accounting software or ERP systems (e. g. Sage, Xero, Quick Books, SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics, Net Suite).
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, and data analysis.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
- Strong organisational and time-management skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Fluent in both Mandarin Chinese and English (written and spoken).
- Preferred
- AAT qualified or currently studying towards ACCA, ACA, or CIMA.
- Experience in international business environments.
- Knowledge of UK VAT regulations and financial reporting requirements.
- Experience with multi-currency transactions and intercompany accounting.
- Familiarity with Power BI or other financial reporting tools.
