W M Donald Ltd is a leading civil engineering contractor with a strong reputation for quality, safety, and innovation. We are seeking an experienced and motivated Surfacing Foreman to join our surfacing division and support the successful delivery of projects across the North East of Scotland.
About the Role
As Surfacing Foreman, you will be responsible for supervising and coordinating surfacing works on site, ensuring projects are delivered safely, efficiently, and to the highest quality standards. You will lead site teams, manage day-to-day operations, and liaise closely with site management, clients, and subcontractors.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise and manage surfacing gangs on site, including asphalt, drainage, and associated works
- Ensure works are carried out in line with drawings, specifications, and programme requirements
- Maintain high standards of health, safety, environmental compliance, and quality
- Plan daily activities, allocate labour, plant, and materials efficiently
- Liaise with Site Managers, Engineers, subcontractors, and suppliers
- Carry out site inspections and quality checks, addressing issues promptly
- Ensure accurate recording of works completed, including site records and daily reports
- Mentor and support operatives, promoting a positive and productive site culture
- Ensure compliance with Company Standards of Service, Management Systems, and business objectives
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Surfacing Foreman or similar supervisory role
- Strong background in civil engineering and surfacing works
- Good working knowledge of health & safety legislation and site procedures
- Ability to lead teams and work effectively under pressure
- Strong organisational and communication skills
- Full UK driving licence
- SMSTS or SSSTS certification
- Experience working to ISO 9001, 14001 & 45001 standards
- Experience on local authority or major infrastructure projects
