Role Description
The Assistant Dealership Accountant will support the dealership's accounting and finance functions on a day-to-day basis. Responsibilities include processing purchase and sales invoices, reconciling bank accounts and dealer statements, posting journals, and assisting with month-end preparation and reporting. The role also involves maintaining accurate ledgers, supporting credit control activities, handling petty cash, and ensuring compliance with company policies and relevant financial regulations. The individual will collaborate closely with the Dealership Accountant, management, and operational teams to provide timely financial information. This is a full-time, on-site role based in Dartford.
Qualifications
- Strong foundation in accounting principles, including double-entry bookkeeping, reconciliations, and journal posting.
- Experience with accounting or dealership management systems and proficiency in common office software (e.g., Excel, Word).
- Attention to detail and accuracy in handling financial data, invoices, and ledgers.
- Good organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
- Clear and professional communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with colleagues across departments.
- Prior experience in an accounting support or finance assistant role; experience in automotive or dealership finance is an advantage.
- Relevant accounting or finance qualifications (e.g., AAT level or equivalent) are beneficial but not mandatory.
- Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and adhering to ethical and regulatory standards.
