About The Role

Reporting to the Director of Sales, the MICE Sales Manager at W Edinburgh is an integral member of the sales team, responsible for overseeing group and catering related opportunities. Joining the team means you will be instrumental to the success of the hotel’s operation. We are looking for someone who is organized, detail-oriented and enjoys building long-lasting relationships with clients. As MICE Sales Manager, key aspects of your role will include:

  • Work with the Director of Sales and team to ensure understanding of sales strategy and the effective implementation of this strategy for the segments you are responsible for.
  • Provide positive leadership to ensure maximum revenue potential.
  • Work collaboratively with off-property sales channels to ensure sales efforts are coordinated, complementary and not duplicative.
  • Build and strengthen relationships with existing and new customers to enable future bookings. Activities include sales calls, site inspections, entertainment, FAM trips, trade shows, etc.
  • Develop relationships within the community to strengthen and expand customer base for sales opportunities.
  • Manage and develop relationships with key internal and external stakeholders.
  • Provide accurate, complete and effective turnover to Event Management.
  • Execute and support the operational aspects of business booked (e.g., generating proposal, writing contract, customer correspondence).
  • Analyse market information by using sales systems and implement strategy to achieve the property’s financial room and catering goals.
  • Support the company’s service and relationship strategy, driving customer loyalty by delivering service excellence throughout each customer experience.
  • Gain understanding of the location’s primary target customer and service expectations; serves the customer by understanding their business, business issues and concerns, to offer better business solution.
  • Execute and support the company’s customer service standards and property’s brand standards.
  • Understand the overall market - competitors’ strengths and weaknesses, economic trends, supply and demand etc. and knows how to sell against them.
  • Set a positive example for guest relations.
  • Interact with guests to obtain feedback on product quality and service levels.
  • Execute exemplary customer service to drive customer satisfaction and loyalty by assisting the customer and ensuring their satisfaction before and during their program/event.
  • Gains understanding of the property’s primary target customer and service expectations; serves the customer by understanding their business, business issues and concerns, to offer better business solution prior to, during and after group/event.
  • Empower your team to resolve guest issues independently and with confidence.
  • Work in collaboration with all heads of departments to ensure a successful hotel operation.
  • Be a W brand ambassador, ensuring the brand’s voice is present in your interactions with guests and talent.
