About the Role
Reporting to the Director of Sales, the Director of Travel Industry Sales at W Edinburgh is an integral member of the sales team, responsible for driving consortia, leisure, and wholesale business from different markets. You will be instrumental to the hotel’s success and play a key role in building long‑lasting relationships with clients.
- Work with the Director of Sales to ensure understanding of sales strategy and effective implementation of this strategy for responsible segments.
- Travel to key feeder markets on business trips to build and strengthen relationships with existing and new customers, creating leads for future bookings (sales calls, entertainment, FAM trips, trade shows, etc.).
- Analyze market information using sales systems and implement strategy to achieve the property’s financial room and catering goals/targets.
- Collaborate with GSOs, Convention Bureau, 3rd‑party intermediaries, and hotel counterparts to drive revenue, ensure customer satisfaction, and increase market share.
- Participate in industry sales calls, tradeshows, roadshows both domestically and internationally to educate and generate awareness.
- Develop networking opportunities through community and professional associations.
- Conduct site inspections with clients and coordinate FAM tours, ensuring they are conducted methodically and adhere to core standards.
- Develop account strategies to capture new consortia key accounts.
- Meet and exceed individual revenue goals/targets, managing customers’ budgets to maximize revenue while identifying upsell opportunities.
- Build and manage relationships with key stakeholders, internally and externally, to acquire new business and close deals.
- Collaborate with off‑property sales channels to ensure complementary sales efforts.
- Execute and support operational aspects of business booked (e.g., generate proposals, write contracts, customer correspondence).
- Respond promptly to inquiries within markets and follow up to ensure guest satisfaction.
- Develop teamwork within the team and with other departments.
- Train and mentor junior team members.
- Understand overall market competition, economic trends, supply, and demand, and develop competitive strategies.
- Serve as a W brand ambassador, ensuring the brand voice is present in all interactions with guests and talent.
