Groupon is a marketplace where customers discover new experiences and services every day and local businesses thrive. To date, we have worked with over a million merchant partners worldwide, connecting over 16 million customers with deals across various categories. In a world often dominated by e-commerce giants, we stand out as one of the few platforms uniquely committed to helping local businesses succeed on a performance basis. Groupon is on a radical journey to transform our business with a relentless pursuit of results.
We’re a "best of both worlds" kind of company. We’re big enough to have the resources and scale, but small enough that a single person has a surprising amount of autonomy and can make a meaningful impact. Our mission is simple: fuel the growth of local commerce while allowing our subscribers to enjoy amazing experiences at attractive prices.
We are looking for a New Business Development Manager to join our fabulous London team with a dedicated focus on the Republic of Ireland. Your goal? Prospect and convince Irish merchants to skyrocket their sales and visibility through Groupon.
You’ll be based in our central London hub (Aldgate East), but your heart (and your portfolio) will be in Ireland. You will be the face of Groupon for the Irish market, thriving in a massive variety of sectors, pitching to:
- Food & Drink: Dublin’s trendiest brunches, Cork’s best gastropubs, or afternoon tea in a Galway castle
- Beauty & Wellness: Luxury spas in Kerry, traditional hammams, or high-end salons in Dublin 2
- Leisure & Events: Surfing schools in Lahinch, Viking tours, escape rooms, or GAA-related experiences
- Services: Car detailing, MOT/NCT prep centres, and driving schools
- Travel: Wild Atlantic Way getaways, City Breaks, and hidden gems across the 32 counties
A glimpse into your daily life with us:
- Source & Convince: Own the top of the funnel for the ROI market. You will be responsible for identifying, cold-calling, and qualifying high-potential merchants across Ireland.
- Local Expertise: Use your deep understanding of Irish culture to build immediate trust and "break the ice" with local business owners.
- Negotiate & Close: Use your "gift of the gab" to break through gatekeepers and turn a “no” into a “yes”, pitch the Groupon value proposition, and convince business owners that we are the partner they’ve been waiting for. Take full ownership of the sales cycle: From the initial cold call to structuring the perfect deal and signing the contract.
- CRM Mastery: Keep your pipeline sparkling clean in Salesforce/Salesloft, meticulously tracking your outreach and wins.
- Brand Ambassador: Lead the charge for Groupon’s growth in Ireland.
Who are you?
- Language: You are ideally fluent in English and Irish (Gaeilge). You can jump from a business pitch in English to a friendly conversation in Irish effortlessly.
- Market Knowledge: You have a deep understanding of the Irish business landscape and consumer habits.
- Sales DNA: You are a hunter who loves the thrill of a cold call and the satisfaction of closing a deal.
- Location: You are happy to be based in London but focused on the IE market.
Why you should apply...
- Mentorship: A manager will guide your first steps and ensure you hit the ground running.
- Lucrative Package: A competitive base salary with an uncapped commission structure.
- Flexible Working: A hybrid model (3 days in our London office) to keep the team spirit high while respecting your balance.
- Perks: Pension plan, private medical, "Grouponiversary" celebrations, social get-togethers, and discounts on the Groupon app.
- Global Culture: We are an international family. You’ll work with people from all cultures in an inclusive "start‑up style" environment.
The Recruitment Process:
- A 20-minute screening call with Anne, from our recruitment team to get to know you.
- A 45-minute interview (ideally face‑to‑face in our London office) with our Head of Sales (UK/IE) to talk about your sales skills and your approach to the Irish market.
- A final 30-minute video interview with a Team Member to finalize the hiring process.
