We are looking for a skilled Fitter / Fabricator with a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience to work on various projects, including precision fitting, fabrication and assembly of metal components. The successful candidate will have excellent technical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.

Primary duties/skills:

  • Fit and fabricate metal components and structures according to specifications and drawings.
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings, diagrams, and specifications to ensure accurate fabrication and production.
  • Operate various metal working equipment, including cutting machines, vertical drilling, bending machines and grinders.
  • Assemble and install mechanical components and structures.
  • Perform quality control checks to ensure components parts and assemblies meet specifications and standards.
  • Collaborate with other team members to ensure efficient project completion.
  • Materials used include aluminium, stainless steel and mild steel.
  • Measurements using engineering measurement instruments such as Engineers Square, Vernier Calliper, Micrometer, gauges, DTI, Angle Finder etc.
  • Comply with health and safety requirements, i.e. have knowledge of safe working practices and procedures.
  • Report and communicate with workshop supervisor.
  • Work to instructions with a minimum of supervision, taking personal responsibility for the quality and accuracy of your work.
  • Undertake other duties as may be reasonably expected from time to time.

Qualifications:

  • City & Guilds or NVQ in Fitting and Fabrication to level 2 or equivalent.
  • Knowledge of health and safety regulations and procedures.

Requirements:

  • 2 years of experience in fitting and fabricating.
  • Proven track record of producing high-quality mechanical components.
  • Strong knowledge of precision fitting and fabricating techniques, including the use of measuring equipment.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, diagrams, and specifications.
  • Excellent hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity.
  • Physical stamina to work in a fast-paced changing environment.
  • Preferable but non-essential to have vehicle body building experience.
  • Experience in welding techniques also advantageous.

Additional Info:

  • 37.5 hours per week.
  • Salary dependent upon relevant experience.
  • 25 days holiday plus recognised public holidays.
