JOB OVERVIEW
W. Christie are the UK’s leading provider of pneumatic, hydraulic & electrical Torque Tooling to a wide range of industry sectors. The role of Service Engineer/Tool Repair Technician is a busy role in our tool service department, undertaking functionality testing, fault finding, servicing, and repairing customer owned products or Christie tooling returned to us from Hire. This role brings responsibility and is a perfect opportunity for you to build a career in engineering with us, where you can learn from those around you.
THE COMPANY
We are a family run engineering company and have been in business for over 60 years. As well as supplying torque tools, we offer bespoke tooling and have the capability of manufacturing everything in house which means we have full control over everything we produce. Although we are a small company, we have high end customers who expect a high level of service. We have built up a great reputation and are proud of what we have achieved.
THE ROLE
- Visually inspect & function test torque tooling equipment
- Dismantle faulty tooling to identify why it is malfunctioning
- Identify spare parts required to carry out repairs
- Assemble & test tools to validate performance
- Document the above process on check sheets and job cards
- Carry out other tasks, including assisting in other departments as required.
THE CANDIDATE
- Be able to identify & resolve mechanical problems
- Have a flexible attitude
- Have ability to read & understand mechanical engineering drawings and instructions
- Ideally be time served apprentice trained in Mechanical Engineering or Bench Fitting
- Experience in hydraulics and/or pneumatics would be helpful
COMPANY BENEFITS

- 34 days holiday per calendar year, including bank holidays (3 days will be used for Christmas closure*)
- Further annual leave days are accrued at 1 day every 2 years with a cap at 5 days for 10 years service – Note: the first accrued day is given in the calendar year following 2 years service.
- Company closure between Christmas and New Year*
- 4pm finish on Friday’s
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
We are a small, successful engineering company whose culture is built on communication, teamwork and the ability to react to company, and customer demands. This position, therefore, necessitates a full-time (5 days a week) on-site presence to fully participate in our collaborative environment.
