Hours of work - Monday to Thursday 8am - 4.45pm & Friday 8am - 4pm

JOB OVERVIEW

W. Christie (Industrial) Ltd is a growing Mechanical Engineering business based in Rotherham (S61 2NF). We are recruiting for a new role as bookkeeper/nominal ledger clerk. This role brings responsibility and we need a reliable, organized and discreet individual to work alongside the company Directors on day-to-day finance activities.

THE COMPANY

We are a family run engineering company and have been in business for over 60 years. As well as supplying torque tools, we offer bespoke tooling and have the capability of manufacturing everything in house, which means we have full control over everything we produce. Although we are a small company, we have high end customers who expect a high level of service. We have built up a great reputation and are proud of what we have achieved.

Key responsibilities

  • Maintain general ledger accounts
  • Manage Company car leases
  • Organize foreign currency payments
  • Petty cash account
  • Sales team and Directors expense account
  • Bank payments to suppliers
  • Prepare & review monthly/annual finance reports
  • Year end audit work
  • Running payroll and associated submissions
  • Assist in preparation and submission of VAT returns
  • Other general administrative tasks where necessary

Requirements

  • AAT or similarly qualified
  • Proven experience within a finance / accounting role is essential
  • Strong Excel skills
  • Proficient in Sage accounting and Payroll software
  • Experience within an engineering environment is beneficial but not essential

COMPANY BENEFITS

  • Free on-site car parking
  • 34 days holiday per calendar year - this includes 8 bank holidays (Note that 3 days will be used for Christmas closure*)
  • Further annual leave days are accrued at 1 day every 2 calendar years worked with a cap at 5 days for 10 years’ service
  • Company closure between Christmas and New Year*
  • 4pm finish on Fridays

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

We are a small, successful engineering company whose culture is built on communication, teamwork and the ability to react to company, and customer demands. This position, therefore, necessitates a full-time (5 days a week) on-site presence to fully participate in our collaborative environment.
