Main Purpose: Acting within the framework of Company policies and in conjunction with the Warehouse Manager and Group Buyers to receive and check goods into the Warehouse, store them in a safe manner and subsequently despatch goods to branches in the quantities required.
Duties:
- General Stock Movement: To develop a working knowledge of racking systems, departmental allocations and stock layout. Unload and check in-coming goods. Load vehicles with outgoing goods. Move heavy and bulky loads around the warehouse as required. Stack merchandise safely and in correct order on warehouse fixtures.
- Picking: Select merchandise as per Wants/Picking List and stack it in appropriate containers, carrying out any necessary clerical procedures. Organise and issue stock in the correct ratios of size, type and colour.
- Clerical: Carry out recording procedures related to the receipt, despatch and delivery of goods. Report any discrepancies between Wants Lists, invoices, delivery notes, etc. and physical stocks. Report when the last of any item is sent out. Assist with the compilation of Wants Lists. Check with the Manager or Buyers whenever you are uncertain. Remember, accuracy is vital to the efficient running of the Company.
- Health, Safety and General: Use with maximum regard for safety, all mechanical and other equipment and report any faults. Help to ensure the security of warehouse and stock. Have a knowledge of fire risks, drill and fire fighting procedures. Perform general housekeeping tasks to ensure a clean, tidy and safe working area. Prepare waste materials for disposal including operating the baling machine. Assist with stocktaking and the compiling of stock sheets. Use internal and external telephone systems efficiently.
You are required to be flexible in the type of duties you perform and are required to perform any duties as may be reasonably required by the Company.
