Job Title Sales Assistant

Responsible to: Store Manager

To provide an efficient sales service to the general public. To help the Company maximise sales and to create customer satisfaction.

DUTIES:

Serving Customers

  • Treat customers politely, efficiently and promptly at all times. Approach and advise customers using the various salesmanship techniques. Have a thorough knowledge of the merchandise and advise customers accordingly.
  • Provide service at the till point including:

➢ A working knowledge of all aspects of till use.➢ A working knowledge of the procedures involved in accepting the various methods of payment, including credit sales.➢ Wrapping the goods with the receipt and handing to the customer.➢ Providing VAT invoices if requested.➢ Ensure that there is always an adequate supply of change in the till.

  • Understand the Company\'s policy regarding customer complaints and cash refunds and deal with them in the appropriate manner.
  • Have a complete understanding of the legal aspects affecting duties.
  • Carry out specialised skills as required.

Care and replenishment of stock within a department

  • Ensure Department stock is replenished on a daily basis.
  • Ensuring the department is kept clean, safe and tidy, and, the stock is attractively displayed.
  • Re-order stock from warehouse and Check quantities delivered.
  • Ticket merchandise correctly, including knowledge of ticket guns.
  • Complete all related clerical duties including inter-branch transfers, checking invoices, debit notes, requisition of tickets, etc.
  • Advise Head of Department/Store Manager of damaged and soiled stock.
  • Assist in stocktaking preparations.Security
  • Follow procedures to ensure security of stock and cash.
  • Be alert - report anything suspicious to Head of Department/Store Manager.
  • If you see a shoplifter - observe and inform security/Head of Department/Store Manager, and assist when requested.

General

  • Use the telephone and tannoy.
  • Endeavour to increase knowledge of merchandise, the store and customers.
  • Follow the rules and regulations of the Company.

You are required to be flexible in the type of duties you perform and are required to perform any duties as may be reasonably required by the Company.
