Are you looking to gain experience with an in-house legal talent acquisition team that takes a progressive, hands-on approach where ideas are welcomed, ownership is encouraged and collaboration is part of the day job? This maternity cover role offers the chance to step into a genuinely hands-on environment where your ideas will be heard and your contribution will matter from day one. This role is offered on a fixed term contract for 12 months ideally on a full time basis working hybrid from our recently refurbished Bristol office location. As a hybrid firm there’s a requirement to work from our Bristol office for a minimum of two days a week, with the recommendation of at least 3 days office working during your probation period. However, we’re open to receiving applications from candidates looking to work on a part time or more flexible basis.
About the opportunity.
You’ll play a key role attracting, assessing and hiring exceptional lawyer talent to contribute and support the Head of Talent Acquisition with the wider VWV talent hiring strategy. As early adopters of an in-house headhunter model within the sector, we’ve embedded direct sourcing at the heart of our talent strategy. In this role, you’ll work alongside our headhunter (Jannica Seccombe) to drive strategic, proactive talent attraction activity ensuring a seamless and positive experience for both candidates and internal stakeholders.
You’ll manage the end to end recruitment cycle for all VWV’s lawyer recruitment campaigns from approval right through to offer with your very own personal headhunter to help you identify and target passive candidates in the market. You’ll attend and manage lawyer vacancy briefings, advertise roles, carry out initial screening, including phone screening, arrange and attend interviews where required and administer online assessments, manage feedback, provide benchmarking and negotiate offers. With just one administrator between the Talent Acquisition Team, you’ll need to be self-sufficient and organised, making the most of all the recruitment portal’s features to help you keep on track of your interview bookings and online assessments to give that all important first class candidate experience regardless of outcome.
About you.
You’ll have a couple of years recruitment experience under your belt, perhaps more but that could be from an in-house professional services recruitment role or from time spent working at a recruitment agency - both backgrounds are of interest. You’ll be a strong team player who’s motivated by candidate experience, someone who likes to be busy and organised, with savvy IT skills that help you to stay on track without the need for additional support. You’ll want to go the extra mile for hiring Partners and candidates, always putting yourself in the shoes of a nervous candidate or an anxious wait for news with an empathetic view at the forefront of how you manage each vacancy. You’ll love being responsible for your own workload, happy to work with minimal supervision but keen to collaborate and share ideas with the Talent Acquisition Team, and quick to offer a helping hand to a colleague clearly starting to feel overwhelmed. The rest we can teach you! - so if this sounds like you, we absolutely want to hear from you.
About us.
There are so many reasons to stop and explore VWV further. We’re known for our friendly and welcoming culture where teamwork and collaboration are key. There’s no pigeon-holing or glass ceilings here, just a professional yet relaxed culture where you can finally be yourself. At VWV, we’re committed to your growth with our bespoke Learning Academy, offering structured career-level programs across core business areas to prepare you for promotion opportunities and career advancement - join us to unlock your full potential. We’re striving to be an inclusive employer of choice, to create a workplace environment that promotes and values diversity, where everyone, regardless of background, can reach their full potential. During the assessment process we’ve supported a range of reasonable adjustments in the past though we continue to learn and evolve to create the best possible candidate experience for everyone. If you’d like to discuss what’s possible, even if you’re not sure what you might need, please reach out to our recruiter, who’ll be happy to talk through options and share what’s worked well for others.
