The Opportunity: Avantor Services provides a broad variety of on-site Laboratory Services for major pharmaceutical customers and works collaboratively with the client to provide resource to deliver core scientific activities and increase laboratory productivity.

Currently, we have an opening for a Laboratory Technician to join our successful team in Cambridge (CB10). This role is lab-based, focusing on the delivery of scientific technical support to the R&D laboratories in accordance with Health and Safety and Good Laboratory Standards requirements.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Stock management - daily consumable replenishment at the point of use, utilising site inventory system
  • Maintenance of lab consumable inventory
  • Handling of cell and sample deliveries
  • Routine decontamination of incubators, water baths, cell counter, class II cabinets, water purification units and other equipment relevant to site.
  • Calibration of pH meters and counterbalances
  • Management of pipette inventory and organisation of calibration schedules
  • Aseptic aliquoting of reagents used in tissue culture & basic media preparation
  • Laboratory housekeeping - tidying stock rooms, cleaning sinks, waste management (biological, chemical & radioactive)
  • Receipt and unpacking of parcel deliveries, including temperature sensitive
  • Provide regular glassware and plastics collection, washing and, autoclaving/ sterilisation services (steam, dry or filtration) for the scientists to use within the laboratories.

Skills, knowledge & competencies:

  • Proven excellent customer service focus and ability to work collaboratively
  • Good IT skills required (including Microsoft Word/Excel/Outlook)
  • Experience of working in a laboratory environment
  • Knowledge of SHE requirements in a laboratory environment
  • To be flexible with working hours when required to deliver the service required to our customers
