A temporary Legal Assistant position is available at an established international law firm in the City of London, with the potential to become a fixed-term contract. The role offers up to £28 p/h, based on experience.

The successful candidate will be motivated, organised, and dedicated, providing support to partners and lawyers across the firm. Responsibilities include:

  • Assisting lawyers with document management, deadline management, procedural requirements, and case preparation.
  • Handling administrative tasks and providing general support, including managing calendars, scheduling meetings, making travel arrangements, filing expense reports, and handling correspondence.
  • Drafting and proofreading correspondence and legal documents.
  • Supporting hearing preparations, especially in arbitral tribunals.
  • Answering incoming telephone calls, responding to emails, and general enquiries.
  • Providing cover for the Receptionist during lunch hours.
  • Assisting on ad hoc projects as required.

Candidate specifications include:

  • 2 years' experience in a similar role within a law firm.
  • Ideally a University degree in law or equivalent.
  • Arbitration dispute resolution experience is desirable.
  • Highly organised with a keen eye for detail and self-motivated to learn and develop.
  • Proven ability to work in a team as well as autonomously.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with an understanding of confidentiality.
  • Excellent written and verbal English is essential; other languages (including French or German) are desirable.
  • Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office.
