About the Role: We're looking for an experienced and proactive Commissioning Engineer to join our team at VVB. This is a key role supporting the inspection, testing, and commissioning of mechanical, public health, electrical, controls, and communication systems across various infrastructure projects. The ideal candidate will have strong technical knowledge, leadership skills, and the flexibility to support national project delivery—including working away from home as needed.
Location: Multiple Project Locations (travel and working away from home required)
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan, coordinate, and deliver testing and commissioning activities.
- Develop Commissioning Plans, ITPs, and Quality Assurance Documentation.
- Inspect installations to ensure compliance with design specifications and project quality requirements.
- Carry out hands-on inspections, troubleshooting, and system commissioning.
- Manage commissioning teams and specialist subcontractors.
- Complete test documentation and commissioning reports.
- Support planning and scheduling to ensure project milestones are met.
- Maintain “red-line” and “as-built” documentation.
- Provide client training and support at handover.
- Contribute during the defect liability period.
- Mentor and upskill junior engineers and technicians.
Requirements:
Experience & Skills:
- Minimum 7 years' experience in a commissioning engineering role.
- Strong background in both mechanical and electrical systems.
- Familiarity with HVAC, LVAC, UPS, BMS/SCADA, drainage, water, lighting, and controls systems.
- Working knowledge of BSRIA Commissioning Guides and industry regulations.
- Ability to manage teams and contractors on-site.
Essential Qualifications:
- HNC in a relevant engineering discipline.
- 18th Edition and Inspection & Testing 2391.
- SMSTS and valid CSCS card.
- Full UK driving licence.
Desirable (not required but beneficial):
- HND or higher-level qualifications.
- OEM commissioning training, F-Gas, CompEx, or HV/LV Authorised Person status.
- Professional Registration (EngTech, IEng).
