About the Role
We are seeking a Health & Safety Advisor who will be responsible for providing health and safety advice and support to various site and office locations creating an ethos of collaboration and shared purpose between the HSE Function and other VVB employees and functions.
Key Responsibilities
- Support to deliver and embed the VVB Strategy.
- Promote VVB's vision and values to internal and external stakeholders including our vision of Safe, Sustainability and Wellbeing.
- Ensure compliance with all legislation regarding health and safety is maintained.
- Work with the SSW team to deliver continuous improvement within the function.
- Ensure health and safety processes and procedures are implemented, ensuring alignment with current legislation.
- Provide support, guidance and advice to both office and site location on health and safety matters, in-line with our H&S Policies and Procedures.
- Ensure all accidents, incidents and near misses are correctly reported and support is provided to investigations in accordance with policies and procedures.
- Ensure all health and safety lessons learnt are communicated to the SSW Team and wider business.
- Ensure that all H&S reporting requirements are accurately provided to the Head of Operational Health & Safety.
- Conduct site safety inspections and audits, ensuring any action plans implemented have been communicated with the Project Manager/s and subsequently implemented on the project site.
- Conduct regular reviews on corrective actions arising from incidents, inspections and audits.
- Support internal and external audits programmes.
- To complete site health and safety inspections once per week each designated live project site.
- To provide technical assistance both to Project Managers and the Head of Operational Health & Safety.
- Conduct Toolbox Talks, brief safety alerts, assist in Client & Tier 1 briefings when called upon.
- Provide coaching & instruction to employees and contractors with regards to health and safety.
- Conduct site health and safety training as required.
- Attend and provide health and safety input at Project Meetings.
- Communicate to the Head of SSW on matters of safety, including updates on Notify/Asite (Reporting System).
What We're Looking For
- Working and demonstrable understanding of health and safety legislation.
- Working and demonstrable understanding of electrical and mechanical standards.
- Working knowledge of ISO 45001.
- Construction Industry Knowledge.
- IT skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel).
- Beneficial to have experience with working on London Underground and TfL projects.
- Knowledge of ISO 9001 and 14001 are a plus but not essential.
