The role will support VVB's Safe, Sustainable and Wellbeing activities across the business and relevant projects, focusing on the following areas: environmental management, carbon management, social value, community engagement, and responsible business practices. The role will also support Wellbeing and Equality, Diversity and Inclusion across VVB in collaboration with HR.
Responsibilities
- Support the implementation of VVB's carbon reduction programme, including measuring VVB's carbon footprint at a company and project levels.
- Support environment/sustainable accreditations and certification such as BREEAM and PAS 2080.
- Support engagement with all stakeholders on all sustainability-related activities.
- Assist with delivering social value across the projects and VVB, such as volunteering days or delivering careers talks.
- Lead on/assist with the creation of key environmental/sustainable project plans, i.e. Environmental elements within the HASEMP, Site Waste Management Plans or Carbon Management Plans (where applicable).
- Complete inspections and audits including the completion of relevant documentation and actions linked to these.
- Co-ordinate the flow of sustainable information required for projects and offices such as toolbox talks, presentations, records, and communications.
- Support data-based reports from our systems such as Power BI and A-Site for sustainability performance and compliance.
- Support and update the VVB intranet ‘CORE’.
- Work with project leaders and teams to ensure compliance with client Works Information.
Requirements
- Very good IT skills including the whole MS Office suite.
- Have a degree or expecting to complete a degree within the following disciplines or other related fields: Environmental Science, Geography, Environmental Management, Environmental Engineering, Sustainability.
- Effective communication skills, able to engage a wide array of stakeholders, including peers and superiors.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
- Willingness to travel across the UK and be flexible with visiting project sites and offices.
