The BIM Manager will be responsible for the strategic leadership, management, and technical oversight of BIM teams, ensuring the successful delivery of coordinated BIM models, digital information, and documentation in accordance with company standards, project requirements, and ISO 19650 processes. The role includes developing, implementing, and maintaining BIM standards, protocols, and workflows across projects, ensuring all models, drawings, and data are produced to the highest quality and compliance requirements. The BIM Manager will oversee project BIM execution, monitor model coordination processes, and drive continuous improvement in digital delivery methodologies.
Working closely with internal multidisciplinary teams, external consultants, and clients, the BIM Manager will lead collaboration and information management processes to support efficient project delivery. They will ensure consistency, accuracy, and compliance across all digital outputs while proactively managing coordination, clash detection, and resolution strategies throughout the project lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities:- Lead and manage BIM delivery across infrastructure projects from concept design through to construction, handover, and asset information delivery.
- Oversee the production, coordination, and quality assurance of BIM models, drawings, and digital deliverables in line with project requirements and company standards.
- Manage and coordinate BIM Technicians and BIM Coordinators for efficient project delivery.
- Provide strategic and technical leadership to BIM Coordinators and Technicians, ensuring consistency, compliance, and high-quality graphical outputs across all project stages.
- Develop, implement, and maintain BIM Execution Plans (BEP), project standards, workflows, and information management procedures in accordance with BS EN ISO 19650 and UK BIM standards.
- Lead BIM coordination activities including clash detection, model federation, design reviews, and issue resolution across disciplines.
- Oversee the management and exchange of graphical and non-graphical project data between multiple software platforms and Common Data Environments (CDEs).
- Ensure effective use and administration of ProjectWise and other CDE platforms to support information governance, collaboration, and document control processes.
- Review and approve 2D and 3D design deliverables related to MEP systems including lighting, power, cable routing, HVAC schematics, and associated infrastructure systems.
- Support project leadership teams in driving BIM best practices, digital innovation, and continuous improvement initiatives across the organisation.
- Provide mentoring, technical support, and professional development for BIM and digital engineering staff.
- Monitor compliance with BIM standards, project protocols, and quality management procedures throughout the project lifecycle.
- Liaise with clients, consultants, and stakeholders to ensure alignment of BIM deliverables with project objectives and employer information requirements.
- Support site teams through digital construction workflows, site surveys, model-based coordination, and as-built information management.
- Lead, manage, and mentor BIM Coordinators, BIM Technicians across projects.
- Provide technical guidance and support to ensure consistent application of BIM standards, workflows, and best practices.
- Identify training needs and coordinate ongoing professional development in BIM software, standards, and digital delivery processes.
- Support recruitment, onboarding, and retention of BIM personnel within the business.
- Monitor team productivity, quality of deliverables, and compliance with company BIM standards and ISO 19650 requirements.
- Foster a collaborative and positive team environment, encouraging innovation and continuous improvement.
- Manage workload planning and prioritisation to ensure project deadlines and deliverables are achieved.
- Act as the escalation point for technical and coordination issues relating to BIM delivery.
- Promote consistency in modelling, documentation, data management, and coordination procedures across all projects.
- Liaise with leadership teams to align BIM resources and digital delivery strategies with project objectives.
- Encourage knowledge sharing and implementation of lessons learned across project teams and disciplines.
- HNC or HND in Engineering/Design.
- Proficient use of the following Software Packages: Bentley MicroStation, Bentley OpenBuildings Designer, Autodesk AutoCAD, Autodesk Revit MEP.
- In-depth working knowledge of 3D modelling.
- In-depth knowledge of BIM.
- Microsoft Word and Excel as a minimum.
- Substantial experience within MEP Infrastructure Design and Engineering projects in a BIM Manager role.
- Previous experience on M&E design schemes delivering complex integrated design and installations.
