About the Anthro JV: The Anthro joint venture between Egis and VVB Engineering will provide comprehensive turn-key services for London's state-of-the-art HS2 gateway station at Old Oak Common. We have been awarded a multi-year contract to deliver MEPHFC (Mechanical, Electrical Public Health, Fire and Communications) systems works.
The Role: We are currently recruiting for an Electrical Engineer. To provide complete electrical engineering services to projects through design and engineering to completion. This will involve all stages from tendering, design and engineering, FAT attendance, support to installation, testing, commissioning and handover. Engineering and Supervisory/Management support to electrical installations throughout the projects to ensure successful delivery from a HSE, programme, quality, compliance, and commercial perspective.
Key Responsibilities:
- Receives operational and technical guidance from the Head of Electrical Engineering, Project Managers, Sector Managers/Directors, and Group Operations Director.
- Performs electrical engineering and design up to 33kV, considering safety, maintainability, installation ease, sustainability, and environmental impact.
- Conducts system studies (e.g., load flow, short circuit, motor starting, transformer energization, protection coordination, harmonic analysis, arc flash, equipment/cable sizing, earthing) using software and offline checks.
- Reviews designs to current standards for buildability and constructability; identifies issues affecting functionality and ensures HSE compliance.
- Ensures Design Risk Assessments align with installation parameters.
- Develops engineered solutions addressing client needs, project constraints, and budgets.
- Manages design registers, minutes, drawings, and formal communications (RFIs, TQs, EWNs, MARs) per VVB and project standards.
- Coordinates with CAD team to ensure BIM-compliant drawings and resolve clashes/interface issues.
- Estimates engineering man-hours and contributes to engineering and project execution plans.
- Develops scope documents for tenders and procurement.
- Liaises with manufacturers to assess product suitability and attends FAT/SAT to ensure compliance.
- Coordinates with installation teams to verify design fit, methodology, and resolve constructability queries.
- Works with commercial team to track design changes and variances.
- Supports planning team in scheduling design, installation, and T&C works; adjusts forecasts to maintain programme.
- Manages subcontractor/sub-consultant work and assists commercial team with valuation and contracts.
- Ensures compliance with VVB and client engineering/design quality procedures.
- Applies knowledge of industry/regulatory codes, standards, and criteria for power, utilities, and infrastructure projects.
Skills & Experience:
- Proficiency in Low and High Voltage (up to 33kV) power distribution system design in infrastructure projects and selection of equipment for the same.
- Knowledge of relevant electrical engineering and installations legislation and standards, and all other associated standards and legislations from Low Voltage to High Voltage level (up to 33kV).
- Knowledge of engineering and design processes and associated compliance.
- Utilisation of Electrical design packages (Amtech/Trimble, Cymap, ETAP, etc).
- Familiarity with 18th Edition IEE Wiring Regulation.
Qualifications:
- A recognised degree in Electrical Engineering (or equivalent) from an accredited university.
- Registered member of either IET or CIBSE or other recognised Engineering Council Institutions.
- Substantial experience within Rail, Power and Infrastructure Electrical Design Engineering position.
The contracted location for this role is Old Oak Common, supporting the HS2 Project. The position will require work across Central London and Acton (OOC site), with the specific location varying depending on project phases. During the design phase, expected to span the next 12–18 months, the majority of work will be based in Central London - Southwark area.
