We are currently recruiting for Senior Quantity Surveyors for locations in London/West Midlands/ Plymouth.

This is a pivotal position within our Commercial team providing support to our projects, ensuring they run in accordance with the budgeted forecast, and maximising profit through robust cost control and the optimisation of variations to the Works. The role may involve working on a singular major project or a number of smaller projects within a framework.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work with and support the Project Manager(s) on a daily basis to ensure projects meet commercial and financial targets
  • Build strong and collaborative relationships with clients and suppliers
  • Contribute to regular and accurate reporting to the Commercial Manager on: PHR/CVR/Cash Flow/Weekly Updates etc.
  • Accountable and responsible for the project budget and to determine regular commercial forecasts
  • Carry out valuations for initial, interim, and final payment applications
  • Manage project sub-contractor and supplier accounts in line with the agreed subcontracts
  • Identify, notify, value and agree change (variations, compensation events, claims)
  • Work with the Commercial Manager to maximise recovery of all contractual entitlements
  • Ensure the Works are managed in accordance with the terms of the contract
  • Ensure that all contemporary records are kept by the project team
  • Support any tender processes as required
  • Promote and maintain professional working relationships
  • Identify project risks and develop and implement mitigation strategies

What we are looking for:

  • Demonstrable use and understanding of standard forms of contract
  • Adept knowledge of MS packages including Excel, Project, and Word
  • Understanding of valuation techniques of construction works
  • Ability to use programme analysis and measurement of Earned Value
  • Able to use accounting concepts and forecasting cost and value
  • Knowledge of tools for managing project and business costs
  • Detailed knowledge of NEC contracts
  • Knowledge of JCT contracts

Qualifications:

  • Educated to A Level standard or equivalent
  • Degree Qualified in Quantity Surveying, or equivalent
  • Professional memberships such as RICS, CIOB, ICES or equivalent
  • Holds a valid CSCS card
  • Hold a full UK driver’s license
