About the Anthro JV: The Anthro joint venture between Egis and VVB Engineering will provide comprehensive turn-key services for London’s state-of-the-art HS2 gateway station at Old Oak Common. We have been awarded a multi-year contract to deliver MEPHFC (Mechanical, Electrical, Public Health, Fire, and Communications) systems works.

Role Overview: Are you a proactive, forward-thinking professional with a passion for delivering excellence in procurement? Join our VVB Engineering as a Buyer. The purpose of this role is to be the initial point of contact within our purchasing department for project support activities. The role holder will provide efficient and cost-effective purchasing support under the relevant projects. They will support the project by conducting comparisons, raising purchase orders, tracking plant and equipment on hire, reconciling delivery notes with purchase orders, and discussing technical specifications and engineering drawings to ensure a full understanding of the project’s requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist Senior Buyers with developing Invitation to Tender packs in readiness to advertise to the marketplace and uploading opportunities to Compete For and Asite.
  • Assist with Tender evaluations and supplier selection.
  • Ensure that all relevant purchasing requisitions are ordered and delivered through the day-to-day actions of the project team.
  • Liaising with the project team on materials planning and order placement, including preparing supply forecasts for key contracts.
  • Ensure that key governance aspects are adhered to for procurement processes and procedures.
  • Ensure required purchasing documentation is produced and approved at the appropriate levels.
  • Record and report savings in accordance with established guidelines.
  • Contribute to the capture and sharing of all information and lessons learned to ensure these are understood from one project to the next.
  • Undertake all purchasing aspects for the project.
  • Engage and communicate efficiently with internal customers and other functions as necessary in executing project activities.
  • Leverage the synergies across the project.
  • Ensure that the Purchasing Schedule is developed for the project.
  • Maintain an ethical approach to tasks and relationships in accordance with relevant VVB policies.
  • In conjunction with the Procurement Manager, conduct regular review meetings with the Project Managers to ensure expected performance levels on each work package are being achieved, including a review of ongoing activities and approving the appropriate documentation.
  • Processing of commercial documentation.

Person Specification:

  • Possesses a good understanding of procurement processes.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to communicate complex and technical information with clarity.
  • Experienced in using ERP systems, with SAP Business One as the current system.
  • Good understanding of Contract Law.
  • Willing to participate in an ‘on call’ program in case of emergencies.

Qualifications:

  • Educated to GCSE level, or equivalent, with an A-C grade in English and Maths.
  • Holding or working towards a level in the Chartered Institute of Purchasing & Supply (Desired).
  • Commercially astute with negotiation skills and experience.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills.
  • Interpersonal skills at all organizational levels, internal and external.
  • Analytical skills.
  • The ability to create and seize new opportunities.
  • Previous experience within a Buyer role heavily involved with ongoing projects.
  • Experience within the Construction/M&E industry (Desired).
