Overview: VVB Engineering is looking for a Principal Electrical Engineer to assume the Network Rail Contractor Engineering Manager (CEM) role on the Anthro joint‑venture project for the Old Oak Common HS2 gateway station. The position covers the full scope of Mechanical, Electrical, Public Health, Fire detection/suppression and Communications (MEPHFC) systems.

About the Anthro Joint Venture: The Anthro JV between Egis and VVB Engineering will deliver turn‑key services for the HS2 Old Oak Common gateway station. The contract includes Mechanical, Electrical Public Health, Fire and Communications (MEPHFC) system works.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assume the NR 02009 Contractor Engineering Manager duties for the full MEPHFC scope.
- Assess, mentor and manage CREs and CEMs, providing guidance on design, engineering and programme targets.
- Lead design reviews, ensuring buildability, constructability and compliance with Network Rail standards.
- Drive the design, construction and commissioning of electrical, mechanical and fire protection systems, delivering solutions that meet client expectations.
- Participate in interdisciplinary reviews (HazID, HazOP, HazCON) and manage design registers, meeting minutes and drawing records.
- Maintain high quality design and engineering outputs, including calculations, reports, sketches and BIM modelling.
- Coach and develop future CEMs and CREs, promoting safe working practices and engineering excellence.
- Stay up‑to‑date with engineering legislation, standards and best practice, ensuring compliance across the project.
Qualifications:
- Degree in Engineering and registration as a Chartered Engineer.
- Registered member of IMechE, IET, CIBSE or other recognised Engineering Council institution.
- Experience as a Network Rail signed‑off CEM and familiarity with NR 02009.
- Previous work within the UK rail sector, with knowledge of CDM regulations, Network Rail group and line standards.
- Seven years’ experience in a similar engineering position, with a background in M&E contractor environments.
- Strong leadership, design management and BIM skills (Revit, BIM packages).
- SMSTS, CSCS Card – AQP or PQP minimum, full UK driver’s licence.
