ABOUT VULCAN OFFSHORE
We're a precision manufacturing and engineering company based in Eastleigh, near Southampton. We design and build products used within the Subsea Geotechnical and Geophysical sectors by fabrication and CNC-machining. Our ISO 9001-certified workshop combines skilled craftsmanship with tight tolerances to deliver equipment that has to perform first time, in some of the most demanding environments on earth. We're a close-knit team that takes real pride in the work that leaves our shop floor.
As our Production Engineer, you'll be the vital link between design and the shop floor β turning engineering drawings into efficient, repeatable manufacturing processes. You'll optimise how we order materials through BOM creation, fabricate by assisting with jigs and tooling, and assembly by ensuring processes and documentation is in place.
This is a hands-on role for someone who's as comfortable at a PC solving a process problem as they are completing assembly and production tasks, working it through with the team.
- Develop and refine manufacturing processes, routings, and work instructions fabrication
- Play a key role in Contract Reviews to ensure that all aspects of each project is covered at the start
- Support the shop floor day-to-day β troubleshooting production issues and removing bottlenecks before they arise.
- Work closely with our design engineers to ensure new products have all the relevant manufacturing information entered into the ERP system
- Assist QA/QC tasks for root-cause analysis and drive continuous-improvement.
- Maintain and improve quality within our ISO 9001 framework
- Support production planning, estimating, and capacity
- Hands-on experience in a Production Engineer role is the most important, supported by HNC, HND or a degree in Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering (or similar), or equivalent years experience.
- Strong working knowledge of CNC machining and/or welded fabrication
- Confident reading and interpreting engineering drawings and GD&T
- Experience in subsea, offshore, defence, or other high-integrity, low-volume sectors
- Working knowledge of ISO 9001 quality systems
