We now have exciting permanent opportunities for motivated and suitably qualified Piping Calculation Engineers to join our Technical Communities based in the South West of England. Join us and be part of making a valuable contribution to the mega-infrastructure, Nuclear New Build project at Hinkley Point C (HPC).

Job Summary

This role will allow for the opportunity to provide a pivotal contribution to the Hinkley Point C project’s design phase culmination. Within the piping sector, you will be entrusted with the meticulous design oversight of an expansive piping network, spanning over 100 kilometres, which forms the backbone of the Nuclear Island for the HPC EPR venture.

As a Piping Calculation Engineer, your primary responsibility will be to ensure the integrity of the pipe network design and its supporting structures by performing detailed piping calculations and assessing HVAC and electrical supports for various load scenarios, including dead weight, thermal expansion, and seismic activity. Expertise in finite element analysis software is highly valued and considered an essential skill for this role. Additionally, knowledge of Python programming is advantageous for developing specialized tools.

Essential or Desirable Qualification, Experience and Skills

    • Knowledge of RCC-M code (section C3650 at least).
    • Knowledge of CALTUY/ Pipestress.
    • Programming proficiency, especially in Python, for the development of computational tools.
    • Experience with CAD software for design and modelling.
