The Position: Senior I&C Engineer
We are supporting the delivery of complex engineering solutions across life sciences and pharmaceutical, and are currently looking to expand the technical team.
We're therefore looking for an experienced Instrumentation & Control (I&C) Engineer to join our team to provide specialist support in the building of a new build life sciences facility.
This role will suit an engineer with hands-on experience in control panel/cabinet design, integration, and build, who is comfortable taking systems from concept through to testing and demonstration.
You will play a key role in ensuring robust, compliant, and high-quality control solutions are delivered to meet project requirements.
- Some of the main responsibilities of the Senior I&C Engineer will include:
- Support the integration and modification of control panels and cabinet-based systems
- Review and update engineering documentation including wiring diagrams, schematics, and technical files
- Implement and manage design changes, ensuring alignment with project and compliance requirements
- Work closely with manufacturing and engineering teams to ensure systems are built and configured correctly
- Participate in or oversee assembly, wiring, and configuration activities where required
- Perform system testing, verification, and validation, demonstrating correct operation
- Identify and resolve issues during integration, build, and testing phases
- Ensure all work is delivered in line with quality standards and regulatory requirement
Alongside a commitment to our values of Care & Compassion, Performance, Team Spirit, and Inclusiveness, we are looking for individuals who can bring the following:
- Experience in I&C, E&I, or control systems engineering roles
- Proven experience working with control panels / cabinets (integration, modification, or build)
- Experience delivering design changes and updating technical documentation
- Strong understanding of electrical schematics, wiring, and control system principles
- Hands-on experience with system integration, assembly, or testing
- Background in a regulated industry (e. g. life sciences, pharmaceuticals, nuclear, or similar)
- Ability to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues across system delivery stages
- Strong communication skills and ability to work with multidisciplinary teams
- Reside locally to Portsmouth or be prepared to relocate, as this permanent role does not include travel expense coverage.
Please note that visa sponsorship is not guaranteed and is assessed on a case-by-case basis, depending on role criticality and project needs.
Many of our UK projects require high-level security clearance, meaning we can often only consider candidates with an existing, indefinite right to work in the UK.
Exceptionally, we may consider visa sponsorship for applicants with niche experience aligned to our core work (e. g.
EPR/nuclear new build).
We offer a competitive salary tailored to your experience and background.
Whether you're earlier in your career or bring more senior-level expertise, we encourage you to apply if this role aligns with your skills, or if you're open to discussing other opportunities within this discipline.
We also offer a benefits package, both standard and enhanced, which is designed to support your wellbeing, development, and financial future, including:
- 25 Days Annual Leave + Bank Holidays, with the ability to swap bank holidays for cultural or religious celebrations
