Job Summary
We are seeking a Piping Construction Engineer to support delivery on a major nuclear new build programme. This role is central to the coordination of mechanical and piping construction activities, ensuring that installation is delivered safely, efficiently, and in full compliance with nuclear standards. You will provide technical leadership across construction activities, working closely with engineering, quality, and site delivery teams to ensure successful execution of complex piping installations.
Some of the main responsibilities of the Piping Construction Engineer will include:
- Develop detailed construction execution plans aligned with project delivery milestones
- Collaborate with engineering, procurement, and quality teams to overcome installation challenges
- Produce and manage construction workpacks to support piping installation activities
- Review of technical drawings and specifications to ensure site readiness
- Coordinate and optimise installation sequencing across multidisciplinary construction teams
- Contribute to constructability reviews and 3D model evaluations using tools such as E3D and Navisworks
- Respond to technical queries, non-conformances, and engineering change requests
- Promote nuclear safety, environmental compliance, and a strong onsite HSE culture
Preferred Profile:
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Piping Engineering, or related discipline
- Experience using Aveva E3D, Navisworks, and Microsoft Office tools
- Valid CCNSG Safety Passport
- Experience working within highly regulated environments (ideally nuclear)
- Strong understanding of piping installation methodologies and engineering processes
- Experience producing construction workpacks and installation documentation
- Strong problem-solving, organisational, and communication skills
- Knowledge of HSE and quality standards within major construction projects
Reside locally to Somerset or be prepared to relocate, as this permanent role does not include travel expense coverage. Please note that visa sponsorship is not guaranteed and is assessed on a case-by-case basis, depending on role criticality and project needs. Many of our UK projects require high-level security clearance, meaning we can often only consider candidates with an existing, indefinite right to work in the UK. Exceptionally, we may consider visa sponsorship for applicants with niche experience aligned to our core work (e.g. EPR/nuclear new build).
