The Construction Delivery Lead is a senior leadership role in the delivery of a nationally significant, complex infrastructure programme. Reporting to the Site Delivery Director, you will be responsible for the end-to-end delivery of a defined area within the Site Delivery portfolio, including major civil works, buildings, networks, and enabling works.
Some of the main responsibilities of the Construction Delivery Lead will include:
- Lead the safe, on-time, and on-budget delivery of major construction packages within your assigned area.
- Act as delegated Principal Contractor, ensuring compliance with CDM Regulations and all statutory requirements.
- Provide leadership to Senior Managers and matrix teams, including construction, safety, quality, engineering, and supply chain partners.
- Coordinate interfaces across multiple programmes and contractors to ensure integrated delivery.
- Drive programme execution in line with agreed delivery strategies and schedules.
- Monitor performance against cost, schedule, risk, and quality targets; provide clear reporting to senior leadership.
- Identify, manage, and mitigate delivery risks and issues, implementing recovery plans where required.
- Ensure all contractual and commercial obligations are met across delivery packages.
- Promote a strong nuclear safety culture, continuous improvement, and effective lessons-learned practices.
- Build strong working relationships with contractors, consultants, regulators, and internal stakeholders.
Preferred Profile:
- Degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, Construction Management, or equivalent.
- Chartered Engineer (CEng) or professional membership (ICE, IStructE, CIOB) preferred.
- Project Management qualification or demonstrable experience applying recognised methodologies (APM / PRINCE2).
- Proven track record delivering large, complex projects in highly regulated environments, ideally nuclear or comparable sectors.
- Significant experience in Nuclear New Build or Heavy Civil Engineering, ideally within HPC, Sizewell B, or similar projects.
- Experience leading multi-disciplinary EPCM projects.
- Proven capability in managing cost, schedule, risk, and change using structured project controls and earned value approaches.
- Experience administering complex contracts, including NEC and/or FIDIC.
- Strong knowledge of reinforced concrete structures and high-integrity construction methodologies.
- Reside locally to Leiston or be prepared to relocate, as this permanent role does not include travel expense coverage.
