In the UK, we have a key focus in the Nuclear sector, contributing to ground breaking projects, such as Hinkley Point C (HPC).

Vulcain Engineering UK are seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer to play a critical role in the planning and delivery of complex electrical decommissioning activities within a major, safety-critical decommissioning programme.

Some of the main responsibilities of the Electrical Engineer will include:

  • Develop, implement, and assure electrical decommissioning plans, processes, and procedures
  • Lead site assessments to identify electrical assets for isolation or removal
  • Plan and oversee the safe disconnection, removal, and disposal of electrical systems and equipment
  • Manage and implement lockout/tagout (LOTO) procedures and electrical risk mitigation
  • Coordinate with waste, logistics, demolition teams, contractors, and other site stakeholders
  • Ensure accurate documentation, inspections, testing, and system status reporting
  • Identify opportunities for reuse, recycling, or repurposing electrical assets
  • Produce technical reports, presentations, and briefings on strategy, risks, progress, and delivery

  • Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline
  • Extensive experience in electrical decommissioning, demolition, or facility decommissioning environments, preferably from within the UK Nuclear sector
  • Proven experience with lockout/tagout procedures and electrical hazard mitigation
  • Demonstrated technical leadership on complex programmes or projects
  • Effective communicator with strong technical writing and collaboration skills, comfortable working in multidisciplinary teams.

Many of our UK projects require high-level security clearance, meaning we can often only consider candidates with an existing, indefinite right to work in the UK.
