In the UK, we have a key focus in the Nuclear sector, contributing to ground breaking projects, such as Hinkley Point C (HPC).
The Position: Configuration Manager - Engineering & PLM
We are looking for a Configuration Manager to join Vulcain Engineering Group in support of a major, first-of-a-kind engineering programme within the UK energy sector. This role will be responsible for defining, shaping and maintaining the authoritative configuration of complex engineering systems, structures, components, digital assets and associated engineering data throughout the project lifecycle. Working within a Design Authority environment, you will play a key role in configuration management, change control, engineering governance, traceability, baseline management and Product Lifecycle Management (PLM), helping to ensure design integrity and consistency as the programme develops from concept through to delivery and construction
Some of the main responsibilities of the Configuration Manager will include:
- Defining, maintaining and continuously improving the configuration management strategy, governance framework and configuration management processes.
- Leading configuration management activities across complex engineering systems, digital assets, engineering data and technical deliverables.
- Establishing and managing configuration control, baseline management, engineering change control and configuration governance processes.
- Maintaining integrated engineering baselines and ensuring alignment between requirements, engineering designs, digital models and technical information.
- Supporting Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) activities and helping shape the future digital configuration management roadmap.
- Managing configuration risks, requirements traceability, compliance considerations and engineering change impacts throughout the project lifecycle.
- Supporting configuration audits, readiness reviews, baseline releases and lifecycle assurance activities.
- Working closely with multidisciplinary engineering teams to resolve configuration conflicts and ensure configuration integrity is maintained across the programme
Alongside a commitment to our values of Care & Compassion, Performance, Team Spirit, and Inclusiveness, we are looking for individuals who can bring the following:
- Demonstrable experience leading configuration management, configuration control, baseline management, engineering change management and configuration governance activities within a highly regulated engineering environment.
- Experience working with Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) systems such as Teamcenter, Windchill, Aras, 3DEXPERIENCE, ENOVIA or similar engineering data environments.
- Strong understanding of requirements traceability, engineering data management, product structures, design change control and lifecycle governance.
- Experience working within complex engineering programmes involving systems engineering, design authority, systems integration or multidisciplinary engineering teams.
- Previous experience within highly regulated sectors such as nuclear, fusion, defence, aerospace, submarines, transportation, advanced manufacturing or major infrastructure.
- Ability to work with evolving requirements, immature design baselines and complex engineering interfaces while maintaining configuration integrity.
- Strong stakeholder management, communication and engineering governance skills.
- Degree-qualified in an engineering, systems engineering or technical discipline, or equivalent industry experience.
Please note that visa sponsorship is not guaranteed and is assessed on a case-by-case basis, depending on role criticality and project needs. Many of our UK projects require high-level security clearance, meaning we can often only consider candidates with an existing, indefinite right to work in the UK. Exceptionally, we may consider visa sponsorship for applicants with niche experience aligned to our core work (e.g. EPR/nuclear new build).
We offer a competitive salary tailored to your experience and background. Whether you're earlier in your career or bring more senior-level expertise, we encourage you to apply if this role aligns with your skills, or if you're open to discussing other opportunities within this discipline.
We also offer a benefits package, both standard and enhanced, which is designed to support your wellbeing, development, and financial future, including:
