We provide the flexibility our clients demand by working at our customers’ sites in the UK and Europe as well as carrying out work remotely on their behalf. We are dedicated to providing the highest level of organisational support to key projects.

Vulcain Engineering was founded in the mid-2000s to specialise in energy and environment projects. Our knowledge of the energy and environment sector means we can support our customers at all stages of the engineering-procurement-construction-commissioning (EPCC) project lifecycle.

With operations in 16 countries and employing over 6,000 staff worldwide, our business responds to the needs of our clients by delivering expertise in the form of high added value engineering services.

Vulcain Engineering UK are seeking a Senior Project Manager to join our PMO division, who are providing the client-side professional services across pioneer nuclear new build projects such as Hinkley Point C (HPC) and Sizewell C (SZC). This is a senior delivery position with full end-to-end accountability for one or more major civil contracts or work packages within the programmes. Holds responsibility for safe, compliant execution across engineering, procurement, construction, and commissioning in a highly regulated nuclear environment.

Some of the main responsibilities of the Senior Project Manager will include:

  • Accountable for full lifecycle delivery of major civil contracts or work packages, meeting time, cost, quality, and safety objectives
  • Define scope, set execution strategy, and manage key programme interfaces
  • Lead multidisciplinary teams of 20–50 people, including matrixed resources
  • Own and manage Level 3 and Level 4 schedules, aligned with the overall project plan
  • Control cost, risk, and change through Earned Value Management principles
  • Administer NEC and FIDIC contracts, including claims management and close-out
  • Build and maintain strong stakeholder relationships across contractors, subcontractors and site teams
  • Ensure strict adherence to nuclear safety, quality standards, and CDM requirements

Preferred Profile:

  • Proven delivery of complex civil EPC/EPCM scopes in regulated environments, with accountability for major contracts and multi-year programmes
  • End-to-end experience across design, manufacture, construction, and commissioning
  • Strong leadership of multidisciplinary teams under pressure, with clear ownership and decision-making
  • Confident in managing contractor performance and driving improvement where needed
  • Solid application of earned value, risk management, and change control
  • Experience administering NEC and/or FIDIC contracts, including claims, negotiation, and resolution
  • Full budget responsibility, not just performance reporting
  • Background in nuclear, energy, infrastructure, or similarly regulated sectors
  • Good understanding of nuclear quality standards and graded approach to quality
  • Knowledge of CDM regulations and experience in a principal contractor environment
  • Demonstrated commitment to safety, compliance, and high-quality delivery
  • Civil Engineering background is desirable
