Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Engineer to join a large, complex engineering project within a highly regulated environment. This role is primarily focused on the mechanical discipline, while working closely with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders across site and design teams.
You will be part of an integrated delivery team, interfacing with contractors, construction, quality, project management, and design functions to support safe, compliant, and effective project execution.
Some of the main responsibilities of the Mechanical Engineer will include:
- Act as a key technical interface for mechanical-related queries from site contractors, including non-conformances, change requests, and exemption requests.
- Provide engineering oversight to ensure compliance with nuclear safety and environmental regulations.
- Support the integrated project team through technical assessment and resolution of contractor queries.
- Carry out nuclear safety and environmental assessments and categorisation of engineering queries.
- Review design and engineering decisions to ensure alignment with overall project strategy.
- Coordinate technical input and support from other engineering disciplines and external organisations as required.
- Contribute to the resolution and closure of technical open points.
- Identify, assess, and manage technical risks.
- Maintain effective working relationships with the Responsible Designer and wider engineering stakeholders.
Preferred Profile:
- Degree (or equivalent) in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
- Experience in system design, mechanical design, installation, and/or commissioning.
- Proven experience applying multi-disciplinary engineering knowledge, ideally within the nuclear industry or other highly regulated environments.
- Knowledge of construction and installation activities on large-scale projects.
- Understanding of Health & Safety legislation, including CDM and Nuclear Site Licence requirements.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, particularly within a site-based environment.
- Ability to work independently, take initiative, and proactively identify, escalate, and report issues.
Please note that visa sponsorship is not guaranteed and is assessed on a case-by-case basis, depending on role criticality and project needs. Many of our UK projects require high-level security clearance, meaning we can often only consider candidates with an existing, indefinite right to work in the UK. Exceptionally, we may consider visa sponsorship for applicants with niche experience aligned to our core work (e.g. EPR/nuclear new build).

We offer a competitive salary tailored to your experience and background. Whether you're earlier in your career or bring more senior-level expertise, we encourage you to apply if this role aligns with your skills, or if you're open to discussing other opportunities within this discipline.
