The Position: Senior Piping Supervisor
Vulcain Engineering is supporting the delivery of large-scale nuclear construction activities in the UK and is looking for an experienced Senior Piping Supervisor to lead site-based teams. This role suits someone with strong piping installation and quality experience who is comfortable supervising work in a highly regulated nuclear environment and working closely with engineering, QA/QC, and construction teams.
Some of the main responsibilities of the Senior Piping Supervisor will include:
- Responsible for the coordination of piping teams and activities, ensuring work is carried out safely, to specification, and in line with nuclear safety expectations.
- Ensure the delivery of work to programme, while maintaining quality, productivity and waste control.
- Act as a visible safety and quality leader on site, embedding a strong nuclear safety culture through briefings, inspections, and coaching.
- Manage workface readiness, ensuring drawings, materials, permits, lifting arrangements, and resources are in place.
- Resolve technical and construction issues at site level, escalating where required and coordinating with engineering and QA/QC teams.
- Oversee piping installation activities including welding, NDT, inspection, testing, and reinstatement.
- Interface with planning, logistics, materials, and other trades to manage interfaces and minimise disruption.
- Report progress, issues, and improvement opportunities to senior site management.
Preferred Profile:
Alongside a commitment to our values of Care & Compassion, Performance, Team Spirit, and Inclusiveness, we are looking for individuals who can bring the following:
- Proven experience supervising piping installation activities on large industrial or infrastructure sites.
- Nuclear construction experience is strongly preferred, however candidates with extensive UK project exposure in oil & gas, power, or major industrial experience with recent nuclear exposure will also be considered.
- Strong understanding of welding, NDT, inspection, test packs, and quality documentation.
- Experience leading site teams and managing performance, safety, and discipline.
- Confidence working with engineers, QA/QC, planners, and other disciplines to resolve site issues.
- Fluency in English language essential, with French speaking being an advantage.
Please note that visa sponsorship is not guaranteed and is assessed on a case-by-case basis, depending on role criticality and project needs. Many of our UK projects require high-level security clearance, meaning we can often only consider candidates with an existing, indefinite right to work in the UK. Exceptionally, we may consider visa sponsorship for applicants with niche experience aligned to our core work (e.g. EPR/nuclear new build).
