The Assistant Construction Delivery Manager is a senior leadership role in the delivery of a nationally significant, complex infrastructure programme. You will play a key role in maintaining progress, managing risk and ensuring works are delivered safely, to the required quality and programme.
Some of the main responsibilities of the Assistant Construction Delivery Manager will include:
- Monitor construction activities on site and contribute to daily construction reports, escalating issues where required
- Recommend and implement temporary measures to address safety or quality concerns and avoid disruption to works
- Review documentation and support assurance activities, including inspections and audits
- Proactively coordinate with health and safety, commercial, project controls, logistics and other construction delivery teams
- Attend pre-start briefings and support the clear communication of key messages to contractor teams
- Attend planning and logistics coordination meetings, ensuring actions and outputs are clearly recorded and communicated
- Undertake safety and assurance inspections in line with project performance indicators
- Maintain clear, two-way communication with the Senior Construction Delivery Manager to ensure effective issue management
Preferred Profile:

- Experience and knowledge of construction sequencing, recovery planning and resource allocation
- Good understanding of duties under the Construction (Design and Management) Regulations
- Experience working in construction project delivery
- Ability to write clear, concise and meaningful reports
- Minimum of a tertiary qualification in Civil, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, or Construction Management, or equivalent vocational experience
- Site Management Safety Training Scheme or Institution of Occupational Safety and Health qualification
- Results-focused mindset with a strong sense of personal responsibility and accountability
- Reside locally to Bridgwater or be prepared to relocate, as this permanent role does not include travel expense coverage.
