The Position - Business Manager

Our core business is built around delivering exceptional engineering & consulting services for client accounts and their projects.

Each framework led by a dedicated account owner who builds relationships, identifies opportunities, and ensures delivery through a team of consultants.

Acting almost like mini-business owners, our Business Managers take responsibility for growth, profitability, and client satisfaction.

We’re looking for someone to take on one (or more) of our developing and new client accounts - raising our profile, unlocking opportunities, growing and leading a team of consultants to deliver outstanding results.

You’ll have the autonomy to run your own profit centre, acting as the face of Vulcain for your clients, with the full support of our skilled recruitment and business teams.

  • Some of the main responsibilities of the Business Manager will include:
  • Take ownership of a defined section of the business and be fully responsible for its profit and loss.
  • Manage customer accounts end-to-end, including business development, bidding, recruitment, delivery, and team leadership.
  • Work closely with a supportive team to ensure you have the tools and backing to succeed.
  • Develop and implement strategies to grow market presence and drive revenue.
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships, acting as a trusted advisor and representative of Vulcain.
  • Lead, coach, and support your own delivery team to ensure high performance.

This position is both challenging and rewarding.

With responsibility for your own profit centre, you will gain experience in all aspects of growing and managing your own account.

  • Experience within the UK nuclear industry and an understanding of engineering principles, ideally with knowledge of how they apply across a project lifecycle.
  • Minimum bachelor degree in a technical, project management, commercial subject or similar.
  • Commercial awareness, including experience with utilisation, pricing, profitability or account/contract growth.
  • Currently hold, or be eligible to obtain SC (Security Check) clearance for UK Defence and Nuclear sites.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to build trust, influence, and develop strong client and consultant relationships.
  • Brings a consultancy mindset - relationship-led, commercially aware, and able to represent Vulcain effectively to high-profile stakeholders.
  • Willingness and flexibility to travel to client locations across the North West weekly or when required.

This is a unique role and is a niche opportunity for someone with the right technical knowledge and interpersonal strengths to develop their commercial skills and play an integral part in our continued growth as a business.

Please note that this role requires eligibility to obtain UK Security Check (SC) clearance.

Due to vetting requirements, applicants will typically need to have resided in the UK for a continuous period and have the independent right to work in the UK.
