The Position

The Asset Maintenance Engineer you will be supporting maintenance and operational readiness activities while promoting best practice across engineering, safety and performance.

You will provide oversight of care and maintenance arrangements, review technical documentation, engage with a wide range of stakeholders and ensure accountability across contractor and supplier activities.

  • Providing engineering oversight and technical support during asset handover from commissioning to operations.
  • Ensuring plant assets remain fit for purpose throughout their operational life.
  • Managing and overseeing pre-operational maintenance activities, offering technical guidance to maintenance teams.
  • Reviewing engineering documentation, maintenance strategies and contractor deliverables to ensure compliance with project and regulatory requirements.
  • Chairing technical meetings and facilitating effective stakeholder engagement across multiple disciplines.
  • Monitoring contractor performance and holding stakeholders accountable for the delivery of agreed maintenance and asset management arrangements.
  • Investigating asset performance issues and leading technical troubleshooting activities to identify and implement robust corrective actions.
  • Building strong working relationships across project, commissioning, maintenance and operations teams to support the successful delivery of project objectives.

  • HNC, HND or Degree qualification in a related Engineering discipline.
  • Experience within highly regulated industries such as Nuclear, Energy, Defence, Oil & Gas, Rail, Aerospace or similar.
  • Previous experience in asset management, maintenance engineering, reliability engineering or equipment lifecycle management.
  • Proven ability to review, assess and develop technical documentation.
  • Strong understanding of maintenance principles and asset care strategies.
  • Experience managing contractor activities and ensuring compliance with technical and safety requirements.
  • Experience using Computerised Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) or Asset Management tools.
  • Reside locally to Bridgwater or be prepared to relocate, as this permanent role does not include travel expense coverage.
