The

Position: Senior or Principal Structural Engineer We are seeking an experienced Structural Engineer to join our growing Rail team, supporting the delivery of a diverse portfolio of rail and infrastructure projects across the UK.

Operating as a Scheme Lead and/or Package Lead, you will take ownership of technical delivery, manage project interfaces, and work closely with clients and multidisciplinary teams to develop practical and innovative engineering solutions.

This opportunity is open to candidates operating at Senior Engineer, Principal Engineer or Associate level.

Engineers with previous experience working as a Network Rail Contractor's Responsible Engineer (CRE-D) are particularly encouraged to apply.

Some Of The Main Responsibilities Of The

Senior or Principal Structural Engineer will include

  • Lead the delivery of structural engineering packages and schemes across rail and wider infrastructure projects.
  • Act as the technical lead for design activities, ensuring compliance with relevant standards, codes and client requirements.
  • Develop and check structural designs for bridges, structural steelwork, reinforced concrete and other infrastructure assets.
  • Manage project scope, programme, resources and technical risks to ensure successful project delivery.
  • Undertake and oversee structural assessments, inspections and engineering analysis of existing and new-build assets.
  • Liaise directly with clients, contractors and stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Mentor and support junior engineers, providing technical guidance and review.
  • Contribute to bids, fee proposals, project planning and the continued growth of the rail engineering capability.

  • Strong track record in the design and assessment of bridges, structural steelwork and reinforced concrete structures.
  • Experience delivering projects within rail, nuclear, heavy industrial or major infrastructure environments.
  • Previous experience leading engineering teams, technical work packages or multidisciplinary project delivery.
  • Experience acting as a Technical Lead, Principal Engineer, Associate Engineer or Contractor's Responsible Engineer (CRE-D).
  • Strong understanding of structural assessment, inspection, analysis and new-build design.
  • Proficiency in structural engineering software such as Tedds, Robot, Midas or similar analysis tools.
  • Chartered Engineer status (MICE or MIStruct E) or demonstrable progress towards Chartership.
  • Confident in client-facing environments, with excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Experience supporting bids, fee proposals, resource planning and business development activities would be advantageous.
  • Reside locally to Bristol, Cardiff, Basingstoke or Warrington, or be prepared to relocate, as this permanent role does not include travel expense coverage.
