VTA Recruitment are currently looking for an experienced Assistant Contracts Manager to join our client's team. Our client is a well-established commercial construction company with over 40 years of industry experience, based in Monton, Salford. They operate exclusively within the commercial sector and are trusted delivery partners on multiple frameworks, including Fire Services, Police Authorities and the North West Consortium.
The work includes office refurbishments and a wide range of commercial construction projects delivered throughout the North West region.
Role
We are seeking an Assistant Contracts Manager to support the delivery of commercial construction projects across the North West. The role will primarily involve overseeing and managing small works contracts with values ranging from £10,000 to £70,000, taking responsibility for delivery from commencement through to completion. In addition, the Assistant Contracts Manager will support the Senior Contracts Manager on larger projects with values typically between £50,000 and £250,000, assisting with coordination, commercial control and site support as required. The position reports directly to the Senior Contracts Manager.

Key Responsibilities
- Taking primary responsibility for the management and delivery of small works contracts valued between £10,000 and £70,000
- Ensuring small works projects are delivered safely, on programme, within budget and to the required quality standards
- Assisting the Senior Contracts Manager with the delivery of larger contracts valued between £50,000 and £250,000
- Supporting site teams with programme management, procurement and coordination of subcontractors
- Monitoring project progress, costs and quality, and reporting accurately to the Senior Contracts Manager
- Assisting with valuations, variations and cost control
- Liaising with clients, consultants, subcontractors and internal teams
- Supporting health and safety compliance across all allocated sites
- Maintaining accurate project records and assisting with regular project reporting
Requirements
- Previous experience in an Assistant Contracts Manager, Project Engineer or similar role within the commercial construction sector
- Experience working on projects valued between £10,000 and £180,000
- Good understanding of construction processes, contracts and commercial awareness
- Strong organisational and communication skills
- Ability to work to deadlines and manage multiple priorities
- A proactive and professional approach
