We are now seeking an experienced Project Manager to join our Repairs and Preservation Business Line (RPBL), leading the safe and successful delivery of multiple projects across the UK.
About The Role:
As Project Manager, you will be responsible for managing multiple repairs and preservation projects, ensuring safe, timely, and on-budget delivery to the required standards of quality and performance. This role sits within our Operations function, reporting to the Operations Manager, and involves managing specialist repair works across infrastructure assets.
Deliver projects including:
- Structural repairs and refurbishment
- Bridge bearing replacements
- Bridge deck repairs and waterproofing
- Concrete repairs and strengthening
- Post-tensioning repairs
- Cable stay repairs
- Structural preservation and rehabilitation works
Key Responsibilities:
- Coordinate construction activities to ensure works are delivered safely, on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.
- Determine and manage project priorities to ensure effective allocation of resources.
- Negotiate and manage supplier and specialist subcontract packages.
- Monitor productivity, quality, programme, and commercial performance of projects.
- Support resolution of technical issues during pre-construction and construction phases.
- Maintain a safe working environment for all team members in line with VSL’s H&S standards.
- Ensure compliance with budget targets, service quality, company reputation, environmental standards, and regulatory requirements.
- Provide leadership, direction, and development to site teams, driving engagement and operational efficiency.
- Liaise with designers, technical centres, and client representatives on design, constructability, and performance matters.
What You Bring:
- Minimum 10 years’ experience in Project Management within civil engineering or infrastructure.
- Strong experience in repairs and preservation of infrastructure assets (highly desirable).
- Experience managing specialist subcontractors and temporary works.
- Degree in Civil Engineering or similar discipline.
- CSCS certification.
- SMSTS / SSSTS.
- IOSH Managing Safely.
- Temporary Works Co-ordinator certification (desirable).
- Proficient in MS Project.
