Rotable Repairs Ltd is one of the world’s leading specialist Aircraft Wheel and Brake MROs that specialises in the repair and overhaul of aircraft wheels, brakes, freight and hydraulic components. As a Part 145 EASA/FAA and TCCA Approved Workshop facility, Rotable Repairs provides quality repair and overhaul services for most classic and current generation jet & turbo prop aircrafts trusted by airlines and aerospace organisations all over the world.

This role includes the priming and painting of aircraft wheels, hubs, brake housings, torque tubes, and various landing-gear components. Duties involve surface preparation – such as cleaning, masking, and sanding – to ensure proper coating application. The Spray Technician II is also responsible for routine equipment maintenance, performing touch-up work, and ensuring all tools and materials are ready for subsequent assignments.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Read and interpret basic work instructions, maintenance manuals, operating procedures and customer specification requirements.
  • Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of process paperwork and parts control.
  • Clean and accurately mask surfaces to prepare them for painting.
  • Apply epoxy/polyurethane or other materials to metal surfaces.
  • Maintain a safe and clean working environment in accordance with safety rules and regulations.
  • Prepare and apply primer and topcoat to wheels and brakes per engineering specifications.
  • Follow detailed CMMs and customer specification precisely.
  • Follow safety regulations and wear protective gear during spray painting operations.
  • Perform touch-up painting and finish corrections where required.
  • Ensure work is completed to quality standards and within turnaround times.
  • Maintain painting tools and spray booth cleanliness.

Minimum Requirements

  • NVQ Level 3, Vocational Qualifications Level 3, GCSE AS and A Level, Advanced Diplomas. Aeronautical and Technical School, Aeronautical Military School or QA Assessment. OEM or OEM training.
  • 3 years of relevant/technical experience.
  • A good understanding of different types of paints, coatings, and paint removers.
  • Able to work well with others and communicate clearly within a team.
  • Good coordination when using tools.
  • Familiar with how to safely use and dispose of hazardous materials.
  • Can read and understand technical documents like manuals, diagrams, and blueprints.
  • Confident using computers for workshop tasks and job tracking.

Preferred Requirements

  • Experience in the aviation industry.

Progression Pathway

After two years of experience in the Spray Department, demonstrating consistent progress and a positive attitude, individuals will be considered for advancement to a Spray Technician III. This progression requires the ability to produce work of the highest quality, maintain consistency in performance, and demonstrate a minimum of two years’ experience of masking & spraying. Candidates who exceed performance expectations may be considered for an earlier promotion to Aircraft Component Painter II.

Training/Certification

In-depth training in specific areas of maintenance, such as certifications NVQ or equivalent.
