VSA are looking for a Relief Farm Shop Worker based within the Farm Shop at Easter Anguston Farm, Peterculter. You’ll work with our VSA staff to ensure each visitor receives a friendly, helpful and welcoming retail experience. Alongside processing payments and restocking products, we’ll make sure you’re equipped with the knowledge to answer any queries about the farm and upcoming events that will make our visitors want to return again and again!

During off-peak times, while the shop is quieter, you’ll also be offered the opportunity to help VSA research and develop future activities and events for the farm, to help make it an all-year-round attraction. This role is an excellent opportunity to give back to your community and be part of something meaningful – all while enjoying the fresh air and beauty of our farm. Whether you can give a few hours a week or more, we’d love to hear from you. We’ll provide any training you need, and you’ll be joining a supportive, fun and values-led team.

Training details: Don’t worry if you’ve never used a till or card machine before! We’ll provide the relevant guidance and support you need.

Restrictions: Minimum age: 16

Frequency & commitment: The farm is open 10am to 4pm every day, and we’re looking for people who are available within these hours. Whether you can help regularly or on an ad hoc basis, your support will make a real difference.

Main Duties/Responsibilities:

  • To contribute to the day-to-day running of the farm shop.
  • Serving and assisting customers.
  • Replenishing stock and displays and processing payments.
  • Helping maintain a clean and welcoming shop environment.
  • Supporting the team during busy periods and staff absences.
  • Communicating effectively with customers and providing them with a high-quality service and visitor experience.
  • Develop your own knowledge and understanding of the farm and the facilities available to assist customers with their queries.
  • Helping to provide a safe and protective environment by complying with health, safety and security procedures and reporting accidents/incidents when appropriate.
  • Carrying out any other tasks from time to time, provided they are reasonable and within the post holder’s capabilities.

Experience:

  • Essential: Experience of working with the public, ability to communicate well verbally with customers, commitment to delivering good service to customers.
  • Desirable: Experience of working in a retail environment or hospitality, customer focused.
