An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Senior Development Scientist to join a world-leading research and development team specialising in mass spectrometry technologies. This role offers the chance to work on cutting-edge instrumentation that supports scientific breakthroughs across a wide range of application areas. Key Responsibilities * Conduct research and development into advanced mass spectrometry technologies * Design, model, and evaluate complex ion optical systems and instrumentation * Collaborate with engineering teams to develop experimental prototypes * Undertake hands-on laboratory work using advanced test and diagnostic equipment * Apply mathematical and ion optical modelling to solve technical challenges * Stay current with scientific advances through continuous learning and attending international conferences * Present research findings internally and externally * Contribute to intellectual property development and patent submissions * Work within agile, multi-disciplinary teams to drive innovation The ideal candidate will have: * BSc/MSc or higher in Physics/Mathematics/Engineering * 4 years’ experience designing and developing mass spectrometry instruments * Strong problem-solving ability and analytical thinking * Effective communication and decision-making skills * Experience with hands-on experimental research and prototyping Desirable Skills & Development Opportunities * Scientific or engineering programming (e.g. Python, MATLAB) * Mathematical modelling and data analysis * Ion optical simulation (e.g. SIMION or similar tools) * Experience using test equipment (oscilloscopes, vacuum systems) * Understanding of ionisation techniques and vacuum technologies Apply now to learn more!
